Christmas Cheer!
I know that Christmas time can seem pretty depressing sometimes. For whatever reason that you might have. But guess what? It's Christmas! The one day of the year that there is peace on earth and goodwill toward all mankind. ♥
That's right people, I'm here to break you out of the Winter Funk and into the Happy Christmas Time Tingles.
You have some of those weird memories or just holiday quirks that you remember? It can be the simplest of things too....
Like when you finally get those stupid tree lights untangled, right? The last knot finally comes out and you stand there in your momentary victory. Suck in a breath, puff out your chest, and bask in the awesomeness of defeating those darn things.
Or maybe making Christmas cookies. Or watching someone else do it? The sweet aroma of baking sugar, milk and whatever else you put in there wafts up your nostrils. Christmas carols fill the air, from that one old CD that you listen to every single year. There's cookie cutters in need of cleaning, milk in need of drinking, and, finally, cookies in need of dunking and eating. Ahhh...
( Of course, don't forget all the other candy, chocolate, mints, cookies, cakes, ect. that's suddenly up for grabs.. LET'S GET FAT TOGETHER! WOOHOO! )
How about that first snow? Man, talk about peaceful. ♪ The white frozen flecks float to the earth, coating everything in a soft layer of sparkly ice cream. OwO Everything goes quiet. A kid might run up to the window and announce the first snow of the season. Of course, after a few weeks, you're pretty fed up with it.
" For unto us a child is born...And He shall be called wonderful, consellor, Prince of Peace...."
And then there's the 'restless sleep' on Christmas Eve night. You know, I try to be all cool teenager like, 'I'm not a kid anymore who gets up at 3 just to sit there and stare at the presents. I can do better then that. I'll sleep, yup yup yup..."
Sure enough, 4:30 am, here I am with my EYES WIDE OPEN!! But before that, it was the neverending dance of waking up every half hour just to find out that it's not time yet...It's not time yet... It's still not time yet! And then, can't take it anymore, gotta get up!
The silent rush down the stairs to behold the sight! The sight that all children look forward to all year long. Those sparkling presents sitting all fantastical-like under the pretty tree.
Of course, you go and shake a couple on the top, letting it torture you sufficiently until finally, the parents either get up on their own, or some rascally kid wakes them up. LET'S GET THE PARTY STARTED, BABY!
How about the different types of present openers? You know what I'm talking about. First of all, there's the Super-Excited-Kid-Who-Can't-Wait-To-See-What's-Inside. They make a big show ripping the wrapping paper off like there's no tomorrow, and smile widely the whole time. There's the Slowly-Peel-The-Tape-Off-And-Fold-The-Paper-Nicely people, who do just that. I don't know if they want to savor it or what... And lastly: the Mister-Or-Missus-Magic-Hands-That-Take-It-All-Off-In-One-Go...MAGIC, PEOPLE!!! How do they do it?
I'm sure that all of you have some sort of awesome thing about Christmas that you love.
But above all, Christmas isn't all about the presents, the family, the friends, the parties, or anything else. It's all about Jesus coming to earth. That calm night so long ago, that we're still celebrating today. Let the peace of it wash over you, and remember that no matter what you do, or what happens, God is still on the throne in Heaven, Jesus still loves you, and there's nothing that can separate you from that.
So Joy to the World, people. Let's have a good time this Christmas, where ever you are.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! ♪
( This is usually what I look like on Christmas Day at about 10 am.)
See you all again in 2012!
