Chobits by: CLAMPHideki Motosuwa moves to the big city, Tokyo, to try and get into the elite college of his dreams. Only one problem...He's broke.
Along with wanting to go to college, he's also heard about these new computers called 'Persecoms'. They are humanoids that can do everything from receiving phone calls to browsing the internet. Apparently, every one is Tokyo has one except him. But, being the hardy (?) country boy that he is, Hideki pushes on and studies hard for his goals.
One night, on his way back from prep school, Hideki stumbles across a persecom in the trash. How lucky for him! He takes his new computer home and turns her on.
But Chii is not just any persecom. She can work and learn without having any back-up data. Hideki learns later that she is a specially made computer, part of an elite program called 'Chobits'. He wants to learn more about Chii, while Chii likes learning things about humans. Is it really possible to fall in love with a lifeless computer?

CLAMP sure knows how to create likable characters. And Chobits is no exception. You learn new things in every episode, and the character development begins right away. Chii is super cute without being annoying. And Hideki gets to be the 'hero' of the story, even if his morals are questionable. XD
Chobits is a delight to watch, but just when you get settled in and think that 'Yes, I can start liking this anime.' ...Something happens.
Being an anime aimed mostly toward the guy spectrum of the Otaku world, there are uncomfortable, inappropriate and otherwise raunchy moments scattered throughout. Chii's 'on switch' is in a VERY questionable place. Too many jokes and pokes at other female bodyparts, and crude sex references make this anime not a very enjoyable one. I suppose it would be alright if you could ignore that stuff when it comes up, but I find that hard to do.
All in all, it's a cute one. But it would be much better if certain things weren't there. Please decide for yourself. ^^
